Margaret L. "Peg" McDougall, 90, a resident of Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Ill, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the center.

The body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Wakonda Christian Church, Des Moines, of which she was a charter member.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, Ill., is assisting the family.

Peg was born in Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of Kenneth and Robin Raines Stockton.  She married Kenneth L. McDougall on Oct. 21, 1950 in Chisholm, Minn.  They moved to Des Moines in 1955.  Peg was the founding director of the Wakonda PreKindergarten and served as its director for five years.  She worked at Methodist Hill Children's Center for five years where she was office manager and later, director.  Peg was the first volunteer resident manager of the Des Moines Ronald McDonald House.  She was actively involved for many years with Bidwell Riverside Center, a Des Moines human services agency, serving on its Board of Directors and as interim director.  She was named a YWCA Woman of Achievement in 1994.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Mark (Debra) McDougall of Melbourne, Australia; a daughter, Robin (Randy) James of Rock Island; grandchildren, Russell McDougall, Morgan (John) Morgan, Scott James and Ellen (Jon) Mulder; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joy Rollins; and brother, Dr. William Stockton; and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; and a sister, Janet Cox.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Endowment Fund of Wakonda Christian Church or Bidwell Riverside Center, Des Moines.

The family offers its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hope Creek Care Center for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Peg.
