Philip J. Clark, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Bickford House under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
A memorial visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Phil was born April 22, 1934 in Rock Island, IL, a son of Philip Benjamin and Julia Mary Mansfield Clark.
Phil graduated from St. Ambrose University with a bachelor’s degree in music. Phil began working for the State of Illinois after serving in the United States Army for two years. He retired in 1991 after 32 years of service from the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Phil enjoyed listening to classical music, bicycling, boating, reading and writing poetry. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, the friends that he made of his neighbors and his coffee buddies.
He is survived by his siblings, Judith Clark and Robert Michael Clark, both of Rock Island, IL and Daniel Clark of Mt. Pulaski, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Clark; a sister-in-law, Roberta Clark; and a nephew, David M. Clark.
