Phyllis J. Pegg, 89, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Phyllis at a later date. Private inurnment will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hope Creek Care Center Activities Fund.
Phyllis was born on November 22, 1928 in Portland, Oregon, a daughter of Robert and Dorothea (Brandenburg) Connolly. She married Elra Pegg, Jr. and seven children were born to their union. Phyllis worked for 25 years as a waitress at Balla’s Airport Inn. She then worked in security at the Quad City International Airport for several years prior to her retirement. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and bowling. She was well known for her famous fudge and peanut brittle. She also took great pleasure in sending letters to her family and friends.
Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her children; Gary (Brenda) Pegg, Foley, Missouri, Tom (Connie) Pegg, Sutton, Alaska, Kathy (Wayne) Rowe, Taylor Ridge, Robert D. (Lori) Pegg, Milan, Timothy Pegg, Seneca, Missouri and Terry C. Pegg, Rock Island; grandchildren, Rob (Karen), Shannon, Mike, Ben (Stacy), Chris (Gina), Robb (Priscilla), Jason, Jeremy, Kimberly (Chad), Jacob and Caleb; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Connolly, Oklahoma, several nieces, nephews and special friends, Dorothy, Dena, Nyla, Arlin, Vey and Sally.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce and her sister, Donna Randall and a granddaughter, Christine Pegg
Phyllis’ family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hope Creek Care Center for the outstanding level of care given to Phyllis over the past 9 years.
