Robert F. Sowash

Robert F. Sowash, 94 , of Andalusia, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.  Services for Robert will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave. E., Milan.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Friday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be performed at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Activities Fund at Crosstown Square. 

Robert was born on July 22, 1922 in Kewanee to Raymond Leon and Loretta (Bryner) Sowash.  He married Ethel Johnson on December 13, 1941 in Kahoka, MO.  Robert was a maintenance worker at the Quad City International Airport for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. 

Robert was a member of of Community Baptist Church, Andalusia and the Andalusia Masonic Lodge #516.  He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, playing blackjack on the riverboat and meticulously caring for his lawn.  He was very proud to be known as "papa blue eyes" by his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ethel, E. Moline;  children, Tammy Stoneberger, Andalusia and Tim Sowash, Dixon, IA; grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Ackerland, Preemption, Jeffrey (Darla) Matlick, Geneseo, Jennifer (Jim Graham) Matlick, E. Moline, Brandon (Amy) Hammond, New Lenox, IL, Travis Sowash, Colorado and Tim (Becki) Chapin, Maquoketa, IA; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren with  1 "on the way"

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond "Dale" Sowash and nephew, Loren Dale Sowash
