Russell D. Whiteside, 61, of Milan, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at home.  Per Russ' wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial gathering will be planned for later in the Summer.  Private inurnment will be in Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of UnityPoint Hospice.

Russell was born November 14, 1955 in Moline, a son of the late Frederic and Flora Seymour Whiteside.  Russ graduated from Rockridge High School, Black Hawk College and Hamilton Tech.  He had worked in the area as an Electrical Engineer.  Russ married Leann DeLaRosa on September 3, 1977.

Russ was known as a jack of all trades and master of them all.  He was a licensed electrician and plumber who was known for his ability to fix anything.  He greatly enjoyed woodworking, ceramics and fishing.  He was an avid Chicago sports fan; Cubs, Bears and Bulls.  Russ also enjoyed running.  While at Black Hawk College, Russ was a nationally ranked runner and several of his records are still in place there.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Leann; daughters, Michelle(Christian) Villadolid, Chicago and Marguerite "Margo" (Ryan) Taylor, Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Hayden Villadolid and Elijah and Colette Taylor; siblings, Marguerite Copeland, Tavenier, FL, Frederic (Cathie) Whiteside, Rock Island, Mary (Terry) Johnson, Milan, Richard (Michelle) Whiteside, Muscatine, Iowa and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents
