Shawn Maltby

Shawn Maltby, 55, of Silvis, Ill., passed away Tuesday November 26, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, Ill.

No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, assisted the family with arrangements.

Shawn was born June 26, 1964 in Rock Island, Ill., a son of John L. and Linda L. Lear Maltby. He was employed with Heat Treating, Inc. in Springfield, Ohio, for 25 years.

In earlier years he was a golden gloves boxer. He was an avid fan of boxing, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Surviving are his significant other, Karen Hughes, Silvis; father and stepmother, John and Penny Maltby, Rock Island; daughter, Jen Merriman, Davenport, Iowa; two grandchildren; brothers, Russell (Deanna) Maltby, Moline, Ill., and Curtis Maltby, Silvis; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family.

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
