I lost contact with Steve several years ago and was planning to recontact him when I discovered today that he passed away. Steve and I met in 1979 in Chicago where we worked for the IRS for a number years and lived in an apartment together during that time in Chicago from 1980 to 1981. I’ve visited his family in Rock Island a number of times over the years including his mom dad brother sister nieces and nephews. They always welcomed me and mada me feel at home. When Steve owned a farm south of rock island my late wife and our young son and daughter visited him and Jean. My children loved riding Steve‘s horse and seeing the chicken coop. Steve and Jean were very kind to my late wife and children. Steve had one of the brightest smile‘s I’ve ever known. He was truly a good friend. I will miss him dearly.

My deepest thoughts and prayers to all the family of Steve and Petty. I went to Sacred Heart and all through high school with Steve. I knew Petty and remember the other kids since I was a young girl. We used to visit the Almquists. She also bowled at Town & Country that my late husband owned. I hope your family will find comfort in knowing that they both were so well thought of and will be rememebered with warm and caring memories.

I guess the neighbors I used to visit near your moms house were the applequists not the almquists. I had forgotten after so many years ago.

Steve was always one to make you smile. I had been away for many years and Steve stopped in front of my Moms, shook my hand and proceeded to give me a lecture in politics. I laughed so long.
I wish now I had kept in closer contact with him.
My sincere condolences to Jim, Paul, and Diane, my childhood friends.

I am sad about the death of Steve. I have many pictures in albums of him with his cousins when we were children growing up with Grandma and Grandpa Conwell.
My sympathy and prayers to Jim, Paul, Diane, and all of his family.
