William R. "Bill" Erickson

William R. “Bill” Erickson, 90, of Sherrard, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Private inurnment services for Mr. Erickson will be at the Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sherrard Community Presbyterian Church. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family. William was born on October 15, 1927 in Rural Township, Rock Island County, a son of Edd Erickson and Mildred Bingman Erickson. He married Edna K. “Kay” Engholm on December 12, 1952 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2016. Bill worked as the grounds foreman at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery before his retirement. Previously he had farmed in the Sherrard area and had worked at John Deere. He was a member of Sherrard Community Presbyterian Church, where he served as Past Deacon. Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include a brother and sister in law, Clarence “Butch” and Donna Erickson, Reynolds; sister in law, Mavus Erickson, Sherrard; and several nieces and nephews.
