IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adrienne Olivia
Nonnenmann
March 5, 1925 – October 12, 2025
Adrienne Olivia DeQuaker Martin Nonnenmann, 100, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully in her home early Sunday morning surrounded by family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM Friday October 17, 2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:00PM Thursday, with a rosary recited at 4:00PM at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Alleman High School and Jordan Catholic School Scholarship Funds.
Adrienne was born on March 5, 1925 in Geneseo, Illinois, to Henry and Anne DeQuaker. She graduated from St. Joe's High School where she met her future husband, Joseph E. Nonnenmann Jr., who enlisted in the United States Army when they graduated. The high school sweethearts were married soon after, when Pvt Nonnenmann returned home on short leave during WWII. While he was away, Adrienne worked at Servus Rubber, Rock Island, where she and many other local women contributed to the war effort while the men were away.
After Joseph returned from the war, they settled in Rock Island and focused on raising a family together. She and her husband raised nine children and were devoted parents. As their children grew, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Mrs Nonnenmann was an avid gardener, who loved spending time in the yard planting flowers and landscaping around the house. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her Catholic faith and encouraged faith among her and her husband's growing family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Nonnenmann; her son, Dr. Philip Nonnenmann; granddaughter, Christina McDonald; sisters, Mary Lou Starner and Veronica Farraher.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Michael Nonnenmann, daughter in law, Linda Nonnenmann (Philip), Timothy (Mary) Nonnenmann, Kathie (Stephen) Macumber, Dr. Jamie (Kerin) Nonnenmann, Mary Jo Nonnenmann, Patrick (Peggy) Nonnenmann, John (Carol) Nonnenmann, Michelle Nonnenmann; her brother, Paul (Lonnie) Martin. She would be proud to have everyone know that she is also survived by thirty grandchildren; ninety-nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com.
