Agnes C. VanLandegen, 85, of Rock Island, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center of Moline. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Child Abuse Council.

Agnes Celesta Nagel was born on May 3, 1929 a daughter of Henry Nagel and Marie Cauwels Nagel. She attended and graduated from Immaculate Conception Adacemy in Davenport. Agnes earned her Nursing degree from St. Anthony's Nursing School , Rock Island. She married Edmund C. VanLandegen on January 26, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2003. Agnes worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital and in later years, she worked as a school nurse at United Township High School.

Agnes was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, Catholic Order of the Foresters, St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, Friends Circle, East End Club and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, gardening and bird-watching.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; David (Cindy) VanLandegen, Rock Island, Daniel VanLandegen, Aledo; grandchildren, Senior Airman Luke VanLandegen Matthew VanLandegen and Sarah VanLandegen; sisters, Mary Lou Lyle, Rock Island, Lorraine (Ken) Dalsing, Salinas, CA, Lorette (Ted) Mayjor, Fredericksburg, VA and a sister in law, Geraldine Nagel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund, parents, a son, Duane, a daughter in law, Theresa and a brother, Henry Nagel.
