Ailene Ruth Davis, 91, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.  She was a God-trusting member of Second Baptist Church.  Pastor Williamson will officiate the services.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Ailene was born on January 1, 1925 in Monroe City, MO, the daughter of John and Merle (Allen) Harrington.  At a young age, she married Maurice Bates and as a widow, later married William Donavon Davis, both have preceded her in death.  Ailene was a skilled beautician who owned her own salon.  She was a loving, giving person who enjoyed bowling.

Ailene is survived by her children, Connie Hicks, Harold Bates and fiance Anita Jefferson, and Carl (Doris) Bates; special daughter, Patricia Finch; grandchildren, Matthew (Marina) Bates, Kevin (Anne) Hicks, Michelle Hicks, Marcus (Essex) Bates, and Sean Bates; great grandchildren, Kelcey Hicks, Analyssa Hicks, Caleb Bates, Jasmin Lynch, Austin Bates, Bryce Bates, and Eden Bates; great-great grandson, Malakai Bates; brother-in-law, James Teague; and a host of nieces and nephews who mourn her death.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, John Harrington, Sharlien Teague, Mary Payton, Geraldine Payton, and Arbella Stewart.
