Al L. Guerdet, 43, of Rock Island, passed away with his loving family at his side on Friday, September 2, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island.  Recitation of the Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will follow the rosary from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Tuesday.   Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  The burial will be private.  Memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Al Leland Guerdet was born on August 19, 1973 in Rock Island, a son of Charles and Nancy Guerdet.  Al graduated from Rockridge High School in 1991.  He then earned his Associate's Degree from Black Hawk College.  He married Michelle "Mikki" Bergman on April 9, 2005 in Charles City, Iowa.  Al was the Store Operations Manager at the Milan Hy-Vee.  He had been with Hy-Vee for 15 years, starting his career with the company in Charles City.

Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Charles City.  He was also a past president and board member of the United Way.  He greatly enjoyed volunteering his time teaching with the Junior Achievement program at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Milan.  Al was also a past president of the St. Mary's Holy Name Society and an avid Notre Dame sports fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mikki, Rock Island; parents, Charles and Nancy, Edgington; brother, John Guerdet, Eldridge, Iowa; sister, Colette Guerdet, Milan; brothers in law, Erik Bergman and Zach McCauley; niece, Sutherlin Guerdet, Georgia; nephew, Elijah Bergman and mother in law, Shelley Garlock.
