Obituary

Albert Charles Beuselinck, 92, of Rock Island, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military rites will be conducted. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Albert was born in Kewanee, Ill. on July 5, 1922, a son of Leon and Leonie Beuselinck. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1948 during WWII, spending most of his time with the Pacific Fleet in China aboard the USS West Virginia.

Albert married Anna S. Rutsaert on October 15, 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rock Island. He worked at the Detrem Gas Company also known as Clarefield's in Milan for 17 years before he went to work doing small arms repairs for the Rock Island Arsenal where he retired in 1982.

Albert is a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island as well as a long-term member of the Rock Island VFW Post 1303. He was a former member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he did extensive volunteer work, and former member of the Belgium American Brotherhood in Rock Island.

Survivors include: his children, Catherine (Roy) Plasschaert, Rock Island, Rosalie (Larry) Holgate, Milan, and Joseph (Debbie) Beuselinck, Rock Island; grandchildren, Kimberly Mydland, Jeffrey Plasschaert, Jennifer Cerra, Eric and Tanner Holgate, Ryan and Dustin Beuselinck, and Amber Daffen; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death last month by his wife of 65 years, parents, brother, George Beuselinck and sister, Marie Draminski.
