Alberta was born on February 20, 1942 in Moline, a daughter of Arthur L. and Mary Jane (Carver) Taylor. She married Latimer "Tim" Beattie on September 3, 1961 at the Milan Presbyterian Church. Together, Alberta and Tim celebrated over 56 years of marriage and companionship. Alberta worked in banking for 21 years, first at Rock Island Bank and Trust and then at Blackhawk Bank. She served 15 years as the business office manager for the area chapter of Easter Seals Foundation – a group dedicated to treatment and care for special needs children. She retired in 1998. Alberta was a member of the Butterworth Home Extension, where she served as Secretary.
Alberta was a hard worker, she gained her work ethic growing up on her family farm. She was widely known as a gourmet chef, baker and a gifted seamstress who enjoyed crochet, needlepoint and making "scrubbies" as well. Painting, gardening and genealogy were also hobbies that Alberta enjoyed. Her greatest pleasure was to be in the company of others, whether it be someone she just met or longtime friends and family. She loved spending time with Tim, often sharing in fishing trips, day trips to Missouri for pecans and an occasional pheasant hunting excursion.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tim; sister, JoAnn Lemon, Milan and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
