Alexander Peter Aldrian, 79, of Milan, went to be with our Savior on Saturday March 26, 2016 after a 7 year battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30am at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.   Memorials may be made to Concordia Seminary, St. Louis or St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan.

Alex was born on July 26, 1936, in Sewickley, PA, the son of Alexius and Marie Lux Aldrian. He graduated from Ambridge High School and Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, with a degree in metallurgical engineering.  He married Joan Victoria Debogovich on September 27, 1958, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ambridge, PA. After graduation, he worked in New Haven, CT, in engineering Naval nuclear reactors before serving in the U.S. Army. Alex became a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois in 1969. He was stationed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 3 years and then worked at the Arsenal in engineering and engineering management retiring in March 1988, after 31 years of service.

Alex was a active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in various capacities over the years. He enjoyed shooting on the Army Pistol Team while he was in the service, woodworking, camping and reading. He was also an active Ham Radio Operator for several years.

Alex is survived by his wife of 57 years; daughter, Laura Aldrian, Morganton, NC; and granddaughter, Elise Lampella, Fairport Harbor, OH.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Carol; son, Mark Alan; and his parents.
