Alice V. Moltzen, 93, of Moline, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island. Private funeral services have already been held with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Music Department at Augustana College. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.
Alice was born on March 30, 1922 in Burlington, Iowa. She married Albert Peter Moltzen on July 12, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island. She worked as an administrative assistant throughout her life including at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Music Department of Augustana College.
In earlier years, Alice was a volunteer for the USO. She loved to greet the troops coming home from World War II and attend USO dances. She was a member of many organizations and clubs in the community. Alice was a gifted artist in many different types of media and a regular exhibitor in local art competitions winning numerous awards and recognitions. She spent time with many local artists enhancing her skills. Following her retirement, she took art and writing classes at Augustana College and had an article published in Good Old Days magazine. Alice greatly enjoyed volunteering her time at Trinity, Rock Island. She was recognized as a President's Call to Service Award recipient for achieving 4,000 volunteer hours of service. Alice loved spending the Christmas holidays with those near and dear to her. She also had a special interest in traveling; yearly to New York City, to London for tea at Harrods', the lights of Paris, and other parts of Europe including seeing the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Melisa and Terry Breheny of Moline and members of her "family by God," Ed and Betty Jane Heinz, Ken and Kerrie Heinz, Andrea, George, Alyssa and Kara Dawson, Gary Heinz and Ashley Riley.
Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death on February 15, 1969.
