IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alida E.
Lowry
August 25, 1948 – April 19, 2021
Alida E. Lowry, 72, of Milan, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at her home.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 26th, 2021 at 12pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be 10am – 12pm at the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Alida was born on August 25, 1948 in Rock Island, a daughter of John Nesbitt and Elizabeth (Peters) Nesbitt. She married Daryl Lowry on July 8th, 1989 in Rock Island. Alida worked as a machinist for Roth Pump for almost thirty years.
Alida always had an open house and was inviting to anyone who came by. In turn, they were blessed with a home-cooked meal. She loved nature, fishing, and camping. She knew the names of every bird; but her favorite birds were hummingbirds and robins. She enjoyed taking care of her pond and plants and watching her 30-year-old cactus bloom. She found joy in connecting with friends and family through Facebook over the last year; but really loved getting together in person. She was the life of the party and always knew how to have a good time. She had a way of making everything seem easy and enjoyed the simple things in life. From her special spot on the couch, she would watch her shows and the birds outside and enjoy any company that came by.
Those left to cherish Alida's memory include her husband, Daryl; children: Jerry Woods of Milan, Nathan Woods of Milan, Wendy (Chris) Ehrecke of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Angela Lowry of St. Petersburg, Florida; her grandchildren: Aaron, Anthony, and Zachary Woods, Samantha and Brandon Wilkerson, and Joshua Snyder; one great-grandchild: Alec Woods; siblings: Jeanette Smith, Sherrie Benson, Carol Williamson, and George Nesbitt; and many other beloved friends and family.
Alida was preceded in passing by her parents; sister, Pat Bennett; and brother, Jack Nesbitt.
Memorial contributions made in Alida's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
