Allan E. Carlson, 84, of Rock Island, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his home. Per Allan's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites were accorded. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Allan was born in Davenport on January 2, 1930, a son of Wilhelm F. and Amanda Nilsson Carlson. He graduated from Davenport Central High School. Allan was an Infantry Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1953.

Allan married Joyce Lindquist in Rock Island. She preceded him in death in 1997. He worked in customer service for 38 years at the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company.

Allan loved the outdoors, animals, fishing, hunting, car shows and scotties.

Survivors include his sons, Grant Carlson and Gary Carlson, both of Rock Island; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who were always in his thoughts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and son, Greg.
