Allie J. "Jay" Meyers, 91, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday February 12, 2015 at his home.
Graveside services will be 10:30am, Saturday June 27, 2015 at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00pm Saturday in the Committee Room at Sunset Heights, Rock Island.
Jay was born on January 14, 1924 in Louisiana, MO., the son of Rudolph and Alice (Pitzer) Meyers. He married Gloria Gibbs-Chambers on September 1, 1967. Mr. Meyers was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran serving on the USS Ricketts.
He had been employed as a operating engineer at the former Moline Consumers.
Mr. Meyers was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Gloria; children, Joe, Mike, Susie, Kathy and Teri; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie and Mary; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Tom.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Pat; siblings, Everett, Clay, Lorene, Mildred and Charles.
