Alma Sowers, 98, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday April 4, 2021 at Silver Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation, Rock Island.

A private memorial service will be held Friday April 16, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Inurnment will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left to South Park Presbyterian Church and River Action.

Alma was born on September 3, 1922 in Carthage, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Barnard) Kelly. She married George E. Sowers on September 3, 1942 in Denver, IL.

Mrs. Sowers was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, Tuesday Biking Club and Blackhawk Hiking Club

Survivors include her daughter, Gracia Stebens, Rock Island; son, Tom Sowers, Visalia, CA.; grandchildren, Cindy, Mindy, Tim, Jennifer, Allison, Thomas, Caroline; great grandchildren, Casey, Kelley, Danielle, Victoria, Ashley, Robyn, Madison, Regan, Clayton, Harper, Charles; great great grandchildren, Brandon and Armani.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Robert and Myrtle.
