Alma Jane Terfler, "Jane", 83, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be made in care of The ARC of the Quad Cities.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Jane was born in Luxemburg, Iowa on May 22, 1933, a daughter of Peter and Delphine Zewen Ungs.  She married Raymond Terfler on July 2, 1960 in Dyersville, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2005.

Jane was a teacher in Winthrop, Iowa for three years and later at Hayes School in Davenport from 1958-1964.  In more recent years she was a paraprofessional at Washington Jr. High School, Rock Island, retiring in 1993.

Jane was a member at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, the Altar and Rosary Society, Junior Women Club of Rock Island, National Education Association and supported The ARC of the Quad Cities.  Besides family celebrations, she enjoyed traveling, concerts, theater, crafts and gardening.

Survivors include her children (and spouses), John Terfler, Rock Island, Mary (Anthony) Ticknor, Hilliard, Ohio, Joseph (Donna) Terfler, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Michael Terfler, Moline; grandchildren, Samantha (Ahmed) and Andrea Ticknor and Nicholas, Noah and Maxwell Terfler;  and siblings, Anna Mae Johnson, LaCrosse, Wisc. and Inez (Bernard) Lammers, Dyersville, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Ungs, Dubuque, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, John Ungs and brother-in-law, Elmer Johnson.
