Ann H. Burlingame, 97, a resident of Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the center.

Private graveside services were held Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 4501 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Ann Hammerand was born February 9, 1918, in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter of Albert and Matilda Riechmann Hammerand. She was salutatorian of her graduating class from Dubuque High School. Ann married Robert J. Burlingame on August 4, 1945 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Dubuque. He died on May 27, 1990.

Ann was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She formerly taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir and was past vice president and secretary of the LCW. Ann was also a member of the Augustana College Endowment Society and Friends of the Rock Island Public Library.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Kaye Burlingame, San Diego, CA.; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Craig Bolt, Glastonbury, CT.; grandchildren, Chad (Kristi) Burlingame, Grant Burlingame, and Eric Bolt; great-grandchildren, Annie, Charlie & George Burlingame. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Nielsen and Elva Milson.
