Anne M. Hinzman, 89, of Rock Island, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 :00 p.m. Mass intentions in memory of Anne may be made to St. Pius or memorials given to Race For The Cure.
Anne Marie Bednar was born September 10, 1925 in Bethlehem, Penn., a daughter of John and Ellen Glenn Bednar. She married Lawrence H. Hinzman on May 28, 1949 in Latonia, Ky.
Anne was a registered nurse after having graduated from the U.S. Army Nursing Cadet Corp. In early years, she worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Covington, Ky. She relished her role as a homemaker and spent her married years being a wife, mother and grandmother, which she loved.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island and a former member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, where she had volunteered in the food pantry. Anne also volunteered at the former Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island. Her greatest love was for her family and she enjoyed all the special times they spent together.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Steve Goodell, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Sheila Hinzman, Milan; grandchildren, Bradley (Amanda) Hinzman, Kevin Pauletti, April Pauletti, Dr. Justin (Laura) Hinzman, Ryan Hinzman (Shayla Schmitt) and Erica Hinzman; step-grandchildren, Matt (Andrea) Goodell and Erinne Goodell; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lawrence J. Hinzman; great-grandson, Wyatt; and three sisters.
