Annie L. Carr, 82, of Davenport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport. Bishop Russell C. Harrington will officiate. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. The burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be left to her son Tarrence Davis.
Annie was born on February 9, 1941, in Louisville, Mississippi, the daughter of Thomas and Hattie Jane (Stennis) Harrington.
She had been employed in the dietary department with Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf. Previously she had worked at Osteopathic Hospital for over thirty years and at Blackhawk Hotel. She was a member of Third Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir for over thirty years, In 2001, She became a member of Greater Faith Baptist Church where she was the mother on the motherboard for over twenty years.
Annie was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending church at Greater Faith Baptist Church, Davenport. Annie loved to cook and bake, she was famous for her lemon lush pies, singing, and watching western and comedy movies.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Tarrence Davis, Davenport; brothers, Leroy Harrington, L.D. (Ruth) Harrington; a host of nieces and nephews including her niece, Trina Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie W. Carr; son, James O'Neal Davis; parents, Thomas and Hattie; sisters, Florence Mosley, Irene Coolidge, Molly Hannah, Dorothy Jones, Jenny Harrington; brothers, Wilbert Harrington, Eugene Harrington, Willie Harrington, Bufford Harrington, Elgin Harrington, Wade Harrington, and Irvin Harrington.
