Antonetta Anna Axup, 91, Rock Island, IL passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Friendship Manor in Rock Island. Visitation will be from 2-3:00 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Private family inurnment at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to QC Right to Life.
Anna was born on January 24, 1933 to Pietro and Antonetta (Maldari) Piscitelli in Cornwall, NY. After graduating from Lady Cliff College in Highland Falls, NY, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Axup on December 22, 1955. After several tours in military service, the couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their three children. Anna was a dedicated wife and active mother through volunteering with the PTA, Junior Women's, and AAUW. She also worked as a teacher at QC Montessori for 18 years until her retirement.
Anna was a member of St. Pius and previously a member of St Joseph's in Rock Island, serving as Eucharistic minister, lector, CCD co-director, and server for evening meal. She enjoyed her bridge clubs and loved attending her children and grandchildren's events. Anna was a gifted hostess who always remembered and recognized birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
Anna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill; children, Peter Axup, Andrew Axup, and Anne Joël Caldwell; grandchildren, Antonetta Axup, Alexandra Axup, Rachel (Gabriel) Auffant, Carson (Dania) Caldwell, and William Caldwell; and one great-grandchild on the way, Zeke Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Hearney, Pasqua Pellegrini, and Yolanda Bates.
