Ardith I. Schafer, 95, of Rock Island, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 11 am Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Entombment is in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation is 9:30 am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Ardith was born Aug. 28, 1921 in Aledo, a daughter of Charles and Irene Pursell Schafer. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1941. Ardith had done clerical work for Frank Foundries for many years. Following retirement, she did bookkeeping for the Connell Agency, Rock Island, working until early this year. She was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. Ardith was of Lutheran faith, an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 11 brothers and sisters.
