Armeta M. Jones, 80, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to the family.
Armeta Marie Young was born on November 5, 1934 in Moline, a daughter of J. Arthur and Mary Kell Young. She married John W. "Jack" Jones, Jr. on November 25, 1950 at the Milan Methodist Church. She worked at Hy-Vee for nearly 20 years, primarily in the Deli. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters 254, Eastern Star 326 and the Blackhawk Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Armeta was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing on several leagues over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 64 years, Jack; children, Debbie (Brad) Luxmore, Rock Island, Belinda Gonzalez, Milan and Alan Jones, Preemption; grandchildren, Randi (Josh) Luxmore-Barnett, Michael Luxmore, Tara (Dustin) Thor, Jay Jones and Erik Jones; great grandchildren, Rylee, Regan, Makenzie and Avery; sister, Mina Fenton and brother, Raymond Young, both of Milan; her beloved Yorky, Misty; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father in law; sister, Irene Curry; a niece and a nephew.
