Arnold Walker Goreth, 92, of East Moline, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Riverwood Rehab, East Moline. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery, Erie, Ill.

Arnold was born in Hillsdale, Ill. on November 27, 1922, a son of Hawley and Sarah Walker Goreth. He married Norma Armstrong on July 24, 1955 in Moline. She died in 1999.

Arnold owned and operated the Erie Greenhouse for 24 years before working for the National Life and Accident Insurance Company where he retired in 1980. Arnold lastly worked for Hy-Vee where he retired in June 2005.

Arnold was a member of First Baptist Church, Rock Island, where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his daughters (and spouses), Patti (Joe) Bliven, Milan, Nancy (Ron) Trush, Moline, Joan Mincer and Sally (Mark) Hull, both of Rock Island; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandson, Robert Parvin and son-in-law, Kenneth A. Mincer.
