Arthur E. Mayne, 92, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Saturday July 18, 2015 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to attend are to meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial, with military honors presented by American Legion Posts 569/200 and V.F.W. Post 1303, will be at National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice, Galesburg.
Arthur was born August 28, 1922 in Rock Island, a son of Martin A. and Ceclia G. East Mayne. He married Dorothy "Dottie" Griffin in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2008.
Arthur retired John Deere, Plow Planter Works, following 33 years of service. He was a longtime member of the U.A.W. and Milan American Legion Post 569.
He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time outdoors.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathy Werthmann, Milan; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Pat Mayne, Moline; grandchildren, Earnest Werthmann and Marco Mayne; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Cynthia Pepping-Werthmann, brothers, Harold and Merle Mayne, and his sister, Gladys Wiley.
