Arthur F. McCannon, 86, of Andalusia, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026 at home.

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Andalusia Community Center (the Lions Club). In honor of Art, please wear suspenders, truly the best way to keep your pants up. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

Art was born October 27, 1939, to Francis and Ethel McCannon. He married Nancy on November 5, 1982, and they built a “Happy Place.”

Art was a lifelong resident of Andalusia, Illinois, living all 86 years on the same homestead. He retired from the Village of Andalusia and proudly served as its Grand Marshall in the 2022 annual Andalusia Fish Fry Parade.

Art loved spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories or a laugh, and helping others. If you needed something done, he would do it for you or knew someone who could. He never met a stranger.

Art also loved motorcycles and antiquing, making lifelong friendships through both. There simply is not enough space to share everything Art did in his life, but those who knew him know he lived it to the fullest. Oh, the stories!!!

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy; children, Michelle (Brian), Nick (Melissa), Rick (Wendy), Teresa (Blake), Vicky (Tom) and Lamar; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; his brother, James (Janice), and sister-in law, Glenda. He will also be missed by “Get Down” Jack and Pepa. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gayle-Lynn; granddaughter, Kortney Rae; and brothers, Gary, Wilbur and Russell (Sue).

The family would also like to thank Trisha and Kristy for their compassionate care and comfort, not only for Art but for the entire family during this difficult time.
