Barbara J. Nightingale , 92, of Moline, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Thursday August 19, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 8, at Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL.

Barbara was born March 22, 1929 in Chattanooga, TN, a daughter of James and Elizabeth Cardin Mishler. She married Samuel Nightingale on June 2, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2001.

Barbara was a teacher of English and Spanish for many years in Ohio and also worked for the Salvation Army in Davenport.

She was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island and was an avid reader.  She also traveled extensively.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, James (Cathy) Nightingale, Berwyn, IL and David Nightingale, Rock Island, IL; former daughter-in-law, Jody Nightingale, Milan, IL; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Gabriel Nightingale.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
