Barbara J. Moore, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, November 20, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be 11 am Tuesday November 28th at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:00 pm Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 5 pm. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care.

Barbara was born April 27, 1931 in Rock Island, a daughter of John Benjamin and Dorothy Clay Holland. She married her loving husband, LaVance W. Moore in Rock Island on December 29, 1952 and they spent 60 years together before he passed away on July 25, 2012.

Barbara held various positions throughout her life but was primarily a homemaker. She was an excellent cook who won awards for her cooking. She was a strong matriarch who enjoyed music, reading and especially spending time with her family.  She loved to play bingo and was an avid casino patron. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Rock Island, after having been a decades-long member of St. Joseph's Church in Rock Island.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Michael Moore, Peoria, Rodney (Nancy) Moore, Harvey, La., Shellie Moore Guy, Beth (Jeff) Lam and Marc Moore, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Robert, Bethany, John, George, DeShawn, Machelle, Lachelle, Jeffery, Stephen and Cherie; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Holland; sister-in-law, Hazel Moore; brother-in-law, Johnny Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Wayne and Alan Holland; sisters, Joyce Foulks, Lurline Barnes and Carol Morrow; and several brothers and sisters in-law.
