Obituary

Barbara L. Morris, 84 of Rock Island, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, after receiving and being fortified by the sacraments of the sick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School, Rock Island.

Barbara Guy was born Dec. 4, 1929 in Davenport, a daughter of Finley and Ethel McKenna Guy. She married Donald J. Morris on June 10, 1950 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. He died July 11, 1983.

Barbara graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport and attended Maryville University, St. Louis. She embraced her role as homemaker and lovingly supported her husband and children.

She had been a longtime active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and supporter of Alleman High School. Barbara had also been a member of the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing needlepoint.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Morris, Rock Island, Julia Morris, Mattoon, Ill., Mary (Mike) Kiss, Geneseo, Margaret (Bradley) Davis, Coralville, Iowa, Jim (Janice) Morris, St. Albans, Mo., and Katie (Shaun) Moore, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Luke Kiss, John (Nikki) Kiss, Jim Kiss, Kate Davis, Matthew Davis, Andrew (Nicole) Davis, Michael Davis, Maggie Morris, Donald James "D.J." Morris, Mary Kate Morris, and Grace Moore; and great-grandchildren, Sam and Lily Kiss. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
