Barbara Ann Priest was born on September 9, 1942 and died on September 10, 2016 at the age of 74.

Barbara was born in Longtown, Missouri.  She was the eldest of 9 children of Roy and Flora Bohnert.  Upon graduation from high school, Barbara joined the United States Air Force and was proud of her service to her country during the Vietnam War era.  It was in the Air Force that she met John Priest, and the two were married at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts on July 20, 1963.  They lived in California and Minnesota before moving to Iowa to work and raise their family together, and lived in Nichols, Iowa for more than 40 years.

She is survived by her husband John, her sons Alex Priest of Nichols, Iowa and Hank Priest (Thais Winkleblack) of Nichols, Iowa and her daughter Tiffany (Dale) Destefano of Fountain, Colorado along with three dear grandchildren Audrey Destefano, Maddie Destefano and Josie Destefano. She is also survived by six of her eight siblings: Fran Bohnert of Longtown, Missouri, Becky (Joseph) Zintel of Erie, Colorado, Patricia (Howard) Smith of Tacoma, Washington, Charlotte (Jim) Farrar of Perryville, Missouri, Bill (Lydia) Bohnert of Longtown, Missouri, Matt (Sara) Bohnert; and many nieces and nephews and extended family around the globe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret and her brother Travis, and by her beloved son Tyson Priest.

There will be a private memorial service for the family; the family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be given to the Muscatine Humane Society.  Cards and memorials may be sent in care of Hank Priest, 1659 Bancroft Avenue, Nichols IA 52766; checks should be payable to the Muscatine Humane Society.
