Barbara Ann Deaton, 76, of Rock Island, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by loving family and friends. Services will be private at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Entombment will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.
Barbara was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas on November 30, 1941, a daughter of Thomas and Lula Belle Swindle Stephens. She married Kenneth Deaton on November 13, 1959 at the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Barbara was a homemaker who also spent several years working for Dollar General. She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island. Barbara was also devoted to her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Charles "Kenny" Deaton, Rock Island; sons, Steven (Joanie) Deaton, Bettendorf, Iowa and Scott (Jennifer) Deaton, Colona; grandchildren, Brett (Jennifer) Deaton, Melissa (Jeff) Schoonover, Allison Deaton, Nick (Abbie) Deaton, Julian Ruiz, Sarah Lohse and Megan, Rachel and Shannon Evans; great-grandchildren, Landon, Chloe, Maci, Wyatt, Jayde, Brantley and Vivien; brothers, Frank (Eva) Stephens, Rock Island and Lehman (Bonnie) Stephens, Batesville, Ark.; sister-in-law, Belle Stephens, Rock Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, J.W. Stephens, sisters, Thelma Bailey, Oneal Deaton, Mary Burgess and Shirley King, grandson, Brian Thomas Deaton and great-grandson, Waylon Thomas Deaton.
