Barbara "Barb" Sue Roggenbauer, 68, of Rock Island, went to be with her lord and savior on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Mercer Manor Rehabilitation, Aledo. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm Monday, June 19, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Coal Valley Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
Barb was born October 30, 1954, in Rock Island, a daughter of Lelbert and Nellie Joan (Hensley) Thornburg. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Black Hawk College. She married James "Jim" M. Roggenbauer on January 7, 1988, in Davenport. Barb worked in food service at Augustana College for 34 years. She was a founding member of Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, where she was an active member and volunteer. Barb cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, going to yard sales, reading, cooking, and traveling. Barb especially enjoyed caring for her husband and going on road trips with him.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Jim; son, Eric (Louisa) Melear, Vienna, Austria; daughter, Rachel Bleeker, Henderson, Nevada; step-children, Rebecca Kline, Rapids City, and James Roggenbauer Jr., Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Maisie, Josee, Kyle, Alijah, Kennedy, Haley, Cassidy, Lilly, Katlyn, and Alyvia; and siblings, Karen (Bob) Grizzle, Pam Swope, and Larry (Kristy) Thornburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Thornburg; brother-in-law, Jim Swope; and nephew, Timothy Swope.
