Barbara E. Verschoore, 84, of Taylor Ridge passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday at church, with a rosary to be recited at 3:30 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Barb was born on August 4, 1939 in Edgington, IL, a daughter of Lorin and Harriett (Behn) Elliott. She married Thomas E. Verschoore on February 7, 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1992. Barb was a homemaker most of her life, staying home to help raise her five children. In later years, she worked as a clerk for the Rock Island County Assessor's Office.

Barb's hobbies included planting flowers, cooking, bird watching, shopping, and caring for others. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with family and taking care of the household.

Barb was very strong in her faith. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Andalusia, where she helped teach CCD classes, sing in the choir, and clean the church.

Those left to cherish Barb's memory include her children, Teresa Verschoore, Kay (Ron) Gottrich, Joanne Murdock, Tommy Joe (Chris) Verschoore and Maria Verschoore; grandchildren, Kayla, Amanda, Lindsay, Vanessa, Jonah and Gavin; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn; sister, Lorna Ristau; sister in laws, Loretta Proske and Shirley Verschoore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; grandson, Ryan Murdock; son in laws, Randy Murdock and Clark Anderson; siblings, Roger Elliott and Jeanie McKee; sister in law, Mary Lou DeMarlie; and brother in laws, Chuck Verschoore, Dale Ristau and Frank Proske.
