Beatrice "Bebe" Weinstein, of Rock Island, passed away at her home on August 25, 2014, surrounded by her family after an extended battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis. She was 79.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Congregation Beth Israel at the Tri City Jewish Center, Rock Island, followed by interment in The Hebrew Cemetery, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island,is in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Dr. Leo and Hinda (Notarius) Gamburg, Bebe graduated from Moline High School following which she attended the University of Wisconsin/ Madison before receiving a BA degree from Augustana College. The same weekend of her graduation, she married Stanley Weinstein. They most recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. In later years, she received a Masters Degree in Industrial Counseling from Western Illinois University/ Macomb, prior to her founding of The Beatrice Weinstein Group, one of the Quad Cities' earliest pioneers in outplacement and employment counselinig. She was often quoted by The National Employment Weekly and remained active until her illness forced her to retire in 1996. She remained an accomplished classical pianist and enjoyed listening to classical music when she could no longer actively participate.

Bebe was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Stan; son Dr. Leo (Kyle) Weinstein, Highland Park, IL; her daughters, Ellen Maule (Kevin), Moline, IL, and Dr. Karen Ohayon (Laurent), New York City, NY; grandchildren, Steven Maule, Moline, Asher, Aaron and Astrid Weinstein, Highland Park, IL.

The family also wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to her long time homecare givers, Maria Martinez and Joyce Temple.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities, or a charity of your choice.
