Beatriz Garcia, 59, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, with the Recitation of the Rosary immediately following. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, East Moline. In celebration of her life, it was her wish for everyone to wear white in lieu of black to the funeral. Memorials may be made to Javier Garcia.
Beatriz was born May 14, 1964, in Michoacan, Mexico, to Jose Mendez and Sara Fernandez. She attended school in Mexico and married Javier Garcia on October 20, 1984. Beatriz was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Davenport.
Beatriz was a homemaker and when the kids were older, she went to work at Jumers Casino.
Beatriz was known for having a wonderful heart and generous spirit. She enjoyed volunteering at church events and helping anyone and everyone that was in need. Every time she would visit Mexico she would donate to all the hungry children she encountered or bought them food.
Her hobbies included gardening, baking, cooking. She has a beautiful array of flowers growing around her home and she made the best Tres Leches Cake. If you visited her you would never leave hungry.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Javier; sons, Cisco and Ramiro Garcia; and daughter, Lupita Garcia and daughter-in-law Griselda Garcia; Grandchildren: Andrea, Jazmin, Giovanni, Oliver, Isabella, and Stella. Her mother Sara Fernandez and brothers; Pedro Mendez, Salvador Mendez, Jose Mendez, Guillermo Mendez, Miguel Mendez, Antonio Mendez, and Mauricio Mendez; Sisters, Raquel Mendez, Rosalba Mendez, and Mayra Mendez.
Beatriz was preceded in death by her father Jose Mendez.
