Bernard Lacey , 68, of Rock Island, passed away Monday January 4, 2021 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.
Private services at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, may be viewed via live-stream broadcast at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, at wheelanpressly.com/live-stream-Rock Island. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, at the funeral home. For those attending visitation, current public gathering guidelines for face masks, capacity limits and social distancing will be observed. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Bernard was born October 14, 1952 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a son of Mary Lacey Jones.
He retired from Alcoa after a medical disability. Bernard was a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served on several different boards of the church. He loved working on his house, doing yardwork and working on his cars. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Bulls fan, and enjoyed watching football and basketball.
Bernard will be fondly remembered as a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary E. Lacey Jones, Rock Island; wife, Juanita Lacey, Rock Island; brother, John (Debbie) Lacey, Lorain, OH; sisters, Annie (Clinel) Hawkins, Dayton, OH, Linnie (Michael) Thompson, Detroit, MI; daughters, Tanisha Lacey, Rock Island, Shawnika (Ian) Westerfield, Davenport; son, Delano Lacey, Rock Island; grandchildren, Brittany Redd, Monique Redd, Aiyanna Lacey, Dequan Lacey, Davion Walker, Keshoun Hammers, Jaylen Carter, Ian Westerfield, Jr., Imani Westerfield and Ascension Lacey Jones; great grandchildren, Alaysia Smith, Journee and Dream Hammers.
Bernard was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul H. Jones; father H.T. Wright; daughter, Bettina Lacey; and sister, Easter Dobbs.
