Bernard Jeffrey Walker, 66, of Blaine, MN, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at VA Minneapolis Health Care, Minneapolis, MN.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a funeral service immediately following at Word of Life Church, 1804 7th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be performed. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Bernard was born on November 1, 1957, the son of Lee Thomas Mapp and Anette Louis Walker. He served in the United States Army. Bernard loved reading, cooking, and watching horse races. He had a passion for music especially jazz. Bernard was very family oriented and would always make sure to keep in touch with everyone. He know his Bible well and would quote scripture all the time. He was a man full of life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jamar Black; grandchildren, Jamar Black Jr., Charnae Thomas; brothers, Byron Walker, Brian Mapp, Deshawn Mapp; sisters, Darla Enter, Denise McWilliams, Lashawna Mapp; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Vera Walker; parents, Lee and Annette Mapp; and sister, Dana Walker.
