Bernice E. Schroeder, 92, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan. Services for Mrs. Schroeder will be 1 pm, Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Bernice was born on October 9, 1924 in Jacksonville, Illinois, a daughter of John Bateman and Rose Ater Bateman. She married Howard Schroeder on April 27, 1942 in Milan. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2004. Bernice was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, needle point and taking care of her grandchildren. Bernice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan. Survivors include her children, Judee Schuch, Coyne Center, Jay (Linda) Schroeder, Michigan; five grandchildren; Mike Schroeder, Los Angeles, California, Shelly Schuch, Moline, Sarah Schroeder, Ft. Worth, Texas, Cody Schroeder, Coyne Center, and Ian Schroeder, Chesterfield, Michigan; great grandchildren, Terrion and Terriyah.
