Beryl J.
(Puschnig) Salmonson
March 1, 1931 – September 3, 2025
Beryl J. Salmonson, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of the Rock Island community, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 94 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. In accordance with her wishes, Beryl will be honored with cremation rites, and her ashes will find a final resting place at Riverside Cemetery in Moline, Illinois. Born in Moline on March 1, 1931, Beryl was the daughter of Frank and Hazel Fremont Puschnig. She graduated from Moline High School in 1949 and married the love of her life, Jule Salmonson, in April 1950. They enjoyed a beautiful life together until Jule's passing in 2000. Beryl dedicated 35 years of her career as an office manager for the University of Illinois Extension, wherein she touched countless lives with her warmth and dedication. She was an active member and officer of Aglow International, Bettendorf Chapter, and participated in various community activities, demonstrating her commitment to service. A vibrant spirit, Beryl found joy in a myriad of pursuits—knitting, gardening, canning, bowling, swimming, playing tennis. She enjoyed reading and Bible study fellowship. She enjoyed spending time at the Moline Township Activity Center, engaging in a variety of activities. Beryl's legacy will be carried on by her loving children, Terri (Douglas) Scherer of Naples, FL, Richard (Lisa Gotthardt) Salmonson of Rock Island, IL, and Robert (Mary) Salmonson of Blackduck, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shawn (Deena) Hicks with their children Shauna and Brook, Rebekah (Greg) Hinck with their sons Isaac and David, Bethany (Jeremy) Fisher with Jeremy's daughter Lizzy and Tyler Salmonson. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear brother, Bruce (JoAnn) Puschnig of Springfield, IL. Beryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her treasured grandson, Eric Salmonson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Moline Township Activity Center or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and love they have received during this time.
