Bessie "Betty" J. Randall, 92, of Rock Island, passed away from natural causes on July 9, 2024, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab in East Moline. She was born September 19, 1931, in Clinton, Arkansas, daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Cook) Black.

She married Clarence Hicks, Jr. with whom she had three children. She later married Jack Randall. A member of a musical family, she wrote and recorded a country song, played multiple instruments and was a fan of Elvis Presley.  She loved gardening and growing vegetables, and spending time with her family and loved ones at her lake house.

Survivors are her son Ronald Hicks (Susan), and grandchildren Lindsay and Ashley; her grandson Shawn Hicks (Deena), great-grandchildren Shauna, Brooke, Sage, Steele, Stone and great-great-grandchildren Jayce, Easton, Camren, and Maison; and her granddaughter Crystal Winfree and great-grandchildren Austin and Bella.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, nine brothers, and her two daughters Sharon Lester and Karen Herschmann.
