Betty Jean (Bell) Douglas, 74, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday June 27, 2024 at her home.

A memorial service will be held on 10:30 AM Tuesday July 2, 2024 at Destiny Baptist Church, 226  7th Street, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Betty was born on September 15, 1949 in Hughes, Arkansas, the daughter of Richard and Rosetta Bell Beavers. She graduated from West Memphis High School in 1961.

She had been the owner of Douglas Industrial, worked with Department of Child and Family Services as a Foster Parent and later retired from Alridge Early Learning Center, East Moline.

Betty loved her family, especially visiting with her daughters and grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, attending her grandchildren's school events, visiting with her friends and neighbors.

Betty was a devoted member of Destiny Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Keonna Douglas, Moline, Jamesha Douglas, Rock Island, LaQuirsa Douglas, Davenport, India Beavers Romero, New York; 5 grandchildren; special cousin, Robin Burns; niece, Alexus Bogguess, Texas; many more nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Rosetta; sister, Ernestine Beavers and brother, Danny Beavers.
