Betty Jean Chapman passed away on December 6, 2025, in Ankeny, Iowa, with her daughter by her side. She was born on July 7, 1932, in Crowder, Missouri, to Lois and Glenn Powers.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30am Saturday May 30, 2026 at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island.

On March 30, 1951, Betty married Earl Chapman in Milan, Illinois. Together they built a life filled with family and cherished memories.

Betty, fondly known as Jean, found joy in simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her close friends in The 50's Club and took pride in her yard. A devoted reader and talented cook, she love Christmas and enjoyed decorating her home. Above all she loved shopping.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Pam Tatge; grandson Erik (Camie) Tatge; great-grandchildren Mason and Kaidyn; niece Robin (Daryl) Drumm; and cousin Linda Buckrop.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; sister Shirley Ehlers; brother Johnny Powers; son Stephen; and grandson Chad Tatge.
