Betty Jo Lange, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Allure of the Quad Cities.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in BJ’s memory.
BJ was born on March 20, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Nellie (Seitsinger) Brandt. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1961 and attended Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, Iowa. On July 15, 1983, BJ married James R. Lange in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2002.
BJ worked as the office manager at Blocklinger Realty in Rock Island from 1975 to 1983. In 1984, she opened BJ’s Tavern in Moline, which she owned and operated until 2003. BJ was an active member of the Friend Circle Club in Moline and the Rock Island Elks Lodge #980, where she served as a past president.
In her free time, BJ enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and reading. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered for her dedication, warmth, and love for those closest to her.
Those left to cherish BJ’s memory include her daughter, Lynn (Frank) Hull; son-in-law, Michael Schwab; stepsons, William (Heidi) Lange and Donald Lange; grandchildren, Candra, Josephine, Olivia, Nicole, Chaise, and Dalton; 2 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Brandt.
BJ was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and her beloved daughter, Juli Jo Schwab.
