Betty J. Van Wychen, 81, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

Betty was born February 7, 1934 in Vernal, UT, the daughter of Linus and Josephine (Olson) Openshaw. She married Robert Van Wychen on November 7, 1960 in Kansas. Betty enjoyed needle point, crewel, embroidery, crocheting, and gardening.

Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Van Wychen, Rock Island; daughter, Jody (Frank) Westbrooks, Silvis; grandson, Robert Dillie, Geneseo; great-grandchildren, Connor and Kelsey Dillie, Geneseo; and sisters, Tony Reynolds, Crystal Anderson, and Joy Kay, all of Vernal, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Vard and Kermit Openshaw.
