Obituary

Beverley C. Ducey, 88, of East Moline, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Park Vista, East Moline. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital.

Beverley was born on July 14, 1937, in Cooksville, Illinois, a daughter of Edward L. Canute and Margene (Weber) Canute. She married James R. Ducey on November 9, 1957, in Rock Island. Beverley owned and operated Beverley's Beauty Shop for 65 years, retiring in 2020. She was a member of the 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island, and was a former member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. Beverley enjoyed reading and camping and she absolutely loved socializing, especially with her family, friends and all her customers. Family was everything to her and her most treasured gifts were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all her nieces and nephews which she loved with all she had.

Survivors include her husband, James R. Ducey; sons, John "Jack" C. (Elizabeth) Ducey, and James E. (Dianne) Ducey, Milan; grandchildren, Megan (Darren) Sims, Milan, Brandon (Rebecca) Ducey, Milan, Emily (Tanner) Ayers-Berry, Hiawatha, Iowa, and Robert Ducey, Rock Island; great grandchildren, Gavin, Zach, Liam, Grace, Olivia, and Myles.

Beverley was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and William Long.

The family would like to offer our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Park Vista Retirement Home for their continued care and support to Beverley and our family for the past three and a half years. To the nurses at Mercy One's Genesis Hospice Care for their specialized care and support helping the family during these last few months. To our special friend Mindy Hamilton for her love and time, allowing Beverley to stay in her family home for longer than she would have been able to; and lastly to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home for the friendship and bond created over 40 plus years and for their continued support, care and guidance through this challenging time.
