IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly Elaine
Samberg
October 7, 1935 – December 30, 2024
Beverly Elaine Samberg, 89, of Davenport passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be left in care of the family to be designated later.
Beverly was born on October 7, 1935 in rural Mercer County, a daughter of Henry Florence (Anderson) Forsyth. She married Stanley McMeekan and they raised one son together, Scott, before later divorcing. Beverly later married Jim Samberg on July 15, 1994 after meeting at Hy Vee, where she worked in the floral department and Jim worked as the Pepsi representative.
Beverly worked many jobs over the years. She started as a waitress at McKee's Diner in Alpha, IL, where she was well known by the locals and was often referred to as everyone's mother. She then went on to work with her son, Oly, at the Sheraton Inn in Galesburg, where they bartended and waited on tables. Beverly ended her career as a floral designer, first with K'nees and later with Hy Vee.
Beverly's hobbies included gardening, art and decorating. Her greatest joy came with spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Beverly's memory include her husband, Jim; children, Oly (Karen) Anderson, Rick (Precy) Anderson and Jeff (Gail) Anderson; step-children, Melissa (Steve) Vogrin and Jeff (Denise) Stinocher; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters in law, Mary Kelley and Patricia Little; and special friend, Cheryl Chambers.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott A. McMeekan; daughter, Rebecca Klabunde; step-son, Mike Samberg; and siblings, Wayne Forsyth, Chuck Forsyth and Helen McNeal.
Online condolences may be left for the family on Beverly's tribute wall.
